Ccrosser Generator Issue

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the voltage drop specifically, but the car's at 61181 km. I'll definitely take a look at the wiring harness, that's a good point. If it's not the wiring, and the voltage drop is significant, is alternator replacement the only option?

At that mileage and with those symptoms, plus a stored error code, it's highly likely the generator is defective, especially if the voltage drop confirms it. It could be the voltage regulator, but that's usually integrated into the alternator on these cars. Replacing the whole unit is often the most reliable fix. My issue ended up being a faulty alternator. I'd suggest taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis before throwing parts at it. They can confirm it's not something else messing with the car electronics.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I suspected it was the alternator, but wanted to be sure before shelling out the cash. I'll check the wiring harness and voltage drop, and then take it to my local shop for a professional diagnosis. They quoted around 960€ for the alternator replacement, so I'm hoping that's the end of it.

I had a similar issue with my Ccrosser. Reduced power, flickering lights – sounds familiar. Before jumping to conclusions about the generator itself, have you checked for any significant voltage drop across the battery terminals while the engine is running? Also, inspect the wiring harness connected to the alternator. A loose connection can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. What's the mileage on your car?
