Ccrosser Overheating Slow Warm Up
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Citroen Ccrosser with a diesel engine is experiencing overheating and slow warm-up times, despite having a proper coolant level. The issue is likely due to a faulty thermostat, which may be stuck open, causing temperature fluctuations. While a water pump failure could also cause overheating, the symptoms suggest the thermostat as the primary culprit. Given the complexity of accessing the thermostat housing, professional diagnosis and repair are recommended to avoid further engine damage.

Temperature gauge does seem a bit all over the place. So, you reckon it's likely the thermostat then? Is it a big job to replace it myself, or is it best left to a mechanic? I'm fairly handy, but I don't want to mess anything up!

Given the fluctuating temperature readings and the symptoms you've described, a defective thermostat is the most probable cause. DIY replacement is possible, but access to the thermostat housing on your Ccrosser can be restricted. Considering the potential for complications and the importance of proper cooling system function, I advise seeking professional diagnosis and repair. A faulty repair could lead to even more serious engine damage.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Sounds like it's best to get it checked out by a pro. Will book it in with a workshop and let them sort it. Cheers for the help!

Overheating combined with extended warm-up times often points to a thermostat issue. A water pump failure could cause overheating, but the slow warm-up suggests a thermostat stuck open. Have you noticed any unusual temperature fluctuations on the gauge while driving?
