I haven't checked the wiring that closely, I assumed the sensor was defective. Where exactly is the rollover sensor located? I'll check the connections, but I can't imagine that being the root cause.

Given the persistent error and the fact that it returns after clearing, it's likely the control unit itself. Although the wiring should be checked, it is very often the case that the unit is faulty. Replacing the sensor might be a solution, but the SRS (airbag) system is complex and important for vehicle safety. Proceed with caution or consult a trained professional at a workshop.

I appreciate the advice. I was hoping to avoid a shop, but I'll take it in. Sounds like it could be the control unit needing replacement. Estimate is around 1000€, which confirms what you are saying.

A rollover sensor issue on a Toyota Celica? That's unusual, though not unheard of. Have you checked the wiring harness and connectors to the sensor itself? It might be a simple connectivity problem. Is the sensor properly mounted and free from any physical damage?
