Thanks! I did check the battery; it seems fine. You mentioned the cable connections. How tight should they be, exactly? Is there a way to test them?

If the battery is confirmed good, double-check those cable connections. They should be snug; you shouldn't be able to move them by hand. Ensure there's no corrosion. A multimeter can check the voltage drop across the connection while you try to start the car. If you're not comfortable doing that, I would recommend visiting your local workshop.

You were spot on about the cable connections! They weren't as tight as I thought. I cleaned them, tightened everything, and she fired right up. I took it to the workshop as suggested. They also ran an engine diagnostic to clear the error codes. Total cost 155€.

An engine that won't start and an engine light screams diagnostics. Have you had the battery tested? Sometimes, a weak battery can cause weird electrical issues. Also, are the cable connections to the battery clean and tight? A loose or corroded connection can prevent enough power from getting to the starter. Did you check the error codes from the check engine light?
