Celica Power Window Failure

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2000 Toyota Celica (gasoline engine). My power windows suddenly stopped working after I replaced the battery. The error memory has an error stored, and now the window controls are dead. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like the window regulator initialization might have failed. I had something similar happen on my Celica after disconnecting the battery for some other repair. The system probably needs to relearn the window positions. Have you tried any reset procedures? Maybe holding the window switch up for a few seconds after fully closing it?

Thanks for the tip! I tried holding the switch up and down, but no luck. How exactly did you solve it? Did you have to use any special tools or software?

Unfortunately, just holding the switch didn't do it for me either. From what I understand, the Body Control Module (BCM) stores the window positions, and sometimes it just forgets after a power loss. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They had some sort of diagnostic tool to reinitialize the window regulators. Could be your window motor is broken, but I'd start with the BCM first.

Okay, I understand. Thanks for the advice. I took it to a shop and they reinitialized the window regulators using a diagnostic tool, just like you said. Cost me 290€, but at least the windows are working again!
