Celica Start Stop Fault

My 2005 Toyota Celica with a gasoline engine has a start-stop system malfunction. The error memory has an error, and the engine shuts off intermittently. A warning light is on. Could a heavily discharged or defective car battery cause this?

I've experienced similar issues with my Celica. Does it happen more often in Eco mode? I found that my automatic restart was failing too. Have you checked the battery?

Thanks. When you say 'checked the battery,' do you mean a voltage test, or should I be looking for something else?

FlorianB

Yes, I meant a voltage test. I ultimately had it tested professionally, and it turned out to be the battery. I ended up going to a workshop to have it replaced.

Thanks. Based on your experience, I will have the battery professionally inspected. I appreciate your insight and that you validated the cost. My estimate is 290€.
