Central Locking Failure on Mercedes CLK

My 2008 Mercedes CLK with a gasoline engine is showing a complete failure of the central locking system. Neither the door locks nor the car alarm are functional. The diagnostic system reports a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be a fuse issue, or something more complex? Is 95€ a reasonable repair cost estimate?

I also have a Mercedes CLK, though I'm not sure of the year. I had a similar central locking issue that also affected my car locks and security system. The fault was in the wiring harness connecting to the central locking pump. Check all cable connections, especially in the door jambs and trunk, for corrosion, loose connections, or damaged insulation. Also, check the key fob battery.

Thanks for the response. Where is the central locking pump located in your vehicle? Did your diagnostic system show a specific fault code? I want to check everything before taking it to a shop.

I don't remember the exact fault code. The pump in my car was in the trunk, behind the left trim panel. But it might be different in your 2008 CLK. Check a Mercedes-Benz repair manual or a technician to find the exact location. I'd suggest going to a workshop for professional help.

Thanks for the help. Your suggestion about the wiring harness was right. I checked the cable connections in the door jambs and found a corroded connector. After cleaning it and adding dielectric grease, the central locking system works again. The security system and car alarm are working as expected now, and the car locks respond to the key fob. You saved me time and money. The repair cost estimate was pretty accurate.
