Charge Air Temperature Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mini Countryman Hybrid was experiencing a charge air temperature sensor error, resulting in a check engine light, reduced engine power, and unusual whistling and hissing noises during acceleration. Initial diagnostics suggested a defective cable or plug connection as the cause. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty cable/plug connection, which cleared the error memory and restored normal function.

Whistling only happens under acceleration. Where was your airflow sensor located and did you also have a stored charge sensor error in the system?

Okay, the whistling and hissing might point to a leak somewhere in the intake. I didn't have those noises specifically. The airflow sensor is near the air filter box, easy to spot. Yes, I also had the charge sensor error stored. If you're getting those noises, the leak might be affecting the sensor reading. Honestly, with those symptoms, I would just take it to a workshop.

Confirmed: faulty cable/plug connection on the charge air temperature sensor. Replaced it, cleared the error memory. All good. Thanks for the insights.

I had something similar on my Countryman, though mine's not a hybrid. Check engine light and reduced power sound familiar. Did you check the airflow sensor? That was my initial thought. What's the deal with the whistling and hissing though? Seems odd. Air temperature fluctuations can mess with the readings for sure.
