Check engine light and exhaust leak on Mini Clubman

My 2010 Mini Clubman is throwing a check engine light. I ran the car diagnostics and it's saying there's some aging issue with the NOx storage catalyst, and something about nitrogen oxides. I also noticed that the exhaust is leaking. Could this be related to the emissions system?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot. The check engine light was on and the error code pointed to the emissions system. Have you checked for any obvious exhaust leaks?

Yep, that was my issue exactly! The leak messes with the readings from the sensors related to NOx emissions, triggering the error. Honestly, I'd take it to a workshop. They can find the leak and do the automotive repair properly.
