Cherokee Transport Mode Kills Nav and Electrical Systems

My Jeep Cherokee (2003, gas engine, 142911km) has electrical issues, the navigation is dead and other electrical systems are malfunctioning. The transport mode seems to be active, which might be related to my last mechanic visit. Has anyone experienced similar issues and found a fix? Looking for advice before heading back to a repair shop.

Had a similar situation with my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006 gas engine. The transport mode activation caused multiple electrical system failures, including the navigation unit shutdown. This typically happens when the vehicle setting remains in transport mode after service work. The root cause in my case was a diagnostic check error during routine maintenance. The transport mode is a factory setting used during vehicle delivery and should be deactivated by technicians. When left active, it disables various electrical components to preserve battery life. The fix required a proper diagnostic tool to reset the transport mode and clear the system. This was not a serious mechanical issue, but it needed professional intervention since these settings are not accessible through standard key fob operations. A qualified technician should perform: 1. Full system diagnostic scan 2. Transport mode deactivation 3. Electrical system reset 4. Verification of all automotive functions Best to have this addressed promptly as continuing to drive with active transport mode can affect other vehicle systems and safety features.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the transport mode issue. My Jeep also got fixed following similar steps, and the electrical systems are now working perfectly. Just curious, do you remember the repair cost for the diagnostic check and system reset? Also, have you noticed any recurring electrical issues since the fix? I want to track if this is a one-time problem or something that might need regular attention with these models.

Just checked my records, actually since my Jeep Grand Cherokee was under warranty the reset of the transport mode and system diagnostics came at 0 Euro. The car electronics returned to normal operation right after the technician performed the reset. Regarding recurring issues, my vehicle has been running smoothly for the past year since the fix. The engine start and all electrical components work as intended. The key fob functions and navigation system have had zero problems. The transport mode error was truly a one-time occurrence linked to that particular service visit. The important thing is getting it addressed quickly by a qualified technician who understands these vehicle settings. Since the repair, the transport mode has stayed properly deactivated and all systems maintain normal function.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses. I took my Jeep to a certified mechanic yesterday and got the transport mode issue resolved. The total cost was 150 Euro for diagnostics and the car configuration reset. The engine start and all electrical components are now working perfectly. The technician explained they found the transport mode was accidentally left active during my last oil change service. A quick system reset and vehicle setting adjustment got everything back to normal. The navigation system, power windows, and all other electronics are functioning properly now. I am relieved it was a straightforward fix and not a major electrical problem. Will definitely keep an eye on the car electronics in case any issues return, but so far everything is running smoothly. Going to make sure future service techs properly deactivate transport mode after maintenance work.
