Chevrolet Orlando Washer Fluid Sensor Issue

My 2016 Chevrolet Orlando diesel is acting up. I got a 'Washer fluid low' warning after topping it off last week. Now the windshield washer system is dead. My OBD reader shows an error code about the wiper water level being too low, even though it's full. I checked the hoses, but see nothing obvious. Has anyone seen this before?

I had a similar problem with my Orlando. Same warning light, and the fluid wouldn't spray. First, check the float sensor in the washer fluid reservoir. It might be stuck or faulty, even if the reservoir is full. Does the warning light go away if you jiggle the float sensor?

Where is that float sensor located and how do I get to it without taking the car apart? Would a faulty sensor shut down the whole system, or just trigger the warning light?

On mine, it killed the whole system because the car thought it was empty, so it wouldn't activate the pump to protect it. The sensor is usually integrated into the reservoir. You might need to remove the wheel arch liner to get access, or possibly just reach down from the top depending on your engine bay layout. If you're not comfortable doing that, a quick visit to a workshop might be worth it. They'll diagnose it in minutes.

I took your advice and went to the local garage. The sensor was indeed faulty and stuck. They replaced the sensor, cleared the code, and now everything's working again. It cost me 25€ for the part and labor. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
