CHR Bypass Valve Overheating

Thanks for the reply! The error seems to pop up every time I drive the car for more than like 30 minutes, so pretty consistent. I haven't really noticed any weird noises, but I'll definitely pay closer attention next time I start it up. Could a faulty bypass valve really cause overheating, or is it more likely a symptom of something else?

Given the consistency of the error and the associated overheating, it is plausible that the bypass valve malfunction is a consequential error stemming from another underlying issue. While a defective bypass valve can contribute to inefficiencies, the overheating suggests a more fundamental problem affecting engine cooling. I recommend a comprehensive diagnostic assessment by a qualified technician to ascertain the root cause.

Thanks so much for your help! Turns out it was a consequential error like you said. Took it to a workshop and they found another error which caused the bypass valve to malfunction and the engine to overheat. Repair was 0€, because it was a consequential error.

Good day. A bypass valve malfunction on a 2017 Toyota CHR with a gasoline engine, accompanied by overheating, suggests a potential issue within the air intake system. Is the error consistently present, or does it appear intermittently? Furthermore, have you observed any unusual noises emanating from the engine bay, particularly during cold starts or acceleration?
