CHR Camshaft Sensor Issue

Hey, I've got a 2023 Toyota CHR with a gasoline engine and I'm having some trouble. It's got about 71725 km on it. Lately, it's been starting really rough, feels like it's lost some power, and the check engine light is on. I scanned the error codes, and it's showing a camshaft sensor issue. From what I've read, it could be a faulty cable or plug. Anyone else run into this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my CHR. Rough starts and the check engine light were the first signs. Did the code reader give you any specific details, or just a general camshaft sensor failure?

It was pretty general, just said 'camshaft sensor defective'. Any idea what fixed it for you? Was it actually the sensor, or something else?

Yep, same vague code for me too. I tried cleaning the contacts, but no dice. Ended up taking it to a shop; they diagnosed a bad connection. Cost about 95€ all in. I'd say check the wiring, but honestly, it's a pain to get to. Might be worth just letting a pro handle it.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I'm headed to the shop then. Hopefully it's just a connection issue like yours was. At least it's not a huge repair bill. Cheers!
