CHR Electronic Parking Brake Failure

Thanks for the quick response! I did give the brake sensor connections a look, but didn't notice any obvious corrosion or loose connections. And yep, there is a distinct whirring sound coming from the rear when I try to engage the parking brake, almost like a small motor is struggling. Was that the same symptom you had? Knowing that, does it still sound like the caliper motor to you?

Yep, the whirring sound is exactly what I experienced. It's most likely the electric motor inside the caliper, just like you suspected. Sadly, there's not much you can do yourself. It's a sealed unit. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop. They'll be able to confirm the diagnosis and replace the faulty caliper.

Thanks a lot for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. I appreciate the help! Looks like I'll be booking it into the workshop and handing over the 505€. At least now I know what to expect.

Sounds frustrating! I have a CHR as well. I had a similar issue with my parking brake a while back. The light came on, and it wouldn't engage. It felt like the car was trying to tell me something. Did you try checking the brake sensor connections? They can sometimes get corroded or loose. Also, is there any weird noise coming from the rear when you try to engage the parking brake?
