CHR Engine Misfires
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Toyota CHR gasoline engine began misfiring at 54,276 km, causing rough running, occasional check engine light activation, jerking during acceleration, and reduced power. Initial checks of the spark plugs showed no issues. Suggestions included inspecting the ignition coils and fuel injectors, as both could cause such symptoms. Ultimately, a defective injector was identified and repaired by a mechanic.

No change in fuel consumption or smells. I haven't checked the ignition coils yet. Could a bad coil really cause the jerking when accelerating? Or could it be a bad injector?

Yeah, a failing ignition coil can cause jerking, especially if it's an inconsistent spark. A bad injector is also possible. You should get it checked by a workshop. They can run diagnostics to find the problem. Better to catch it early before it causes more damage.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a mechanic, and it was a defective injector. The repair cost 515€.

I had something similar with my Opel Insignia, though it's a different car and engine. Rough running and check engine light. Have you seen any changes in fuel consumption or weird smells from the exhaust? Maybe check the ignition coils? They can cause misfires without throwing a code right away.
