CHR Gearbox Slips Transfer Case Fault

No, I haven't noticed any distinct gear grinding noises, just the unclean shifts. As for the service history, the transfer case oil change isn't explicitly listed in the scheduled maintenance, which now begs the question – should it have been replaced preventatively? And if so, what type of damage could this have caused?

Alright, no grinding is somewhat reassuring, but the lack of scheduled maintenance for the transfer case oil is concerning. It sounds like a similar issue to what I experienced. Delaying maintenance on those components can accelerate the wear. Without hearing the car myself, it's hard to say for sure, but based on your description and the mileage, I'd recommend taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can check the gear oil condition and assess the transfer case internals.

I appreciate the confirmation and advice; I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection. You were absolutely correct. Turns out it was indeed a transfer case fault, more specifically, detective gears. The repair cost 330€.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Subaru Forester, though the symptoms manifested a little differently. Gearbox slips can be tricky. Have you noticed any unusual noises, like a gear grinding sound, especially during acceleration or deceleration? More importantly, what's the service history of the transfer case? Has the gear oil ever been changed? Neglecting that can definitely lead to premature wear.
