I don't have a multimeter, unfortunately. So just replacing the battery in the key fob solved the Astra's problem completely? I thought it might be something more complicated, like the car's receiver acting up.

For my Astra, replacing the battery in the key fob was enough. But it is a different car, with different electronics. It's still worth a try, as it's the cheapest option. If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose whether it's the receiver or something else entirely.

Thanks for the advice! It was indeed the key fob battery. Changed it, and everything is working fine again. Cost me 37€ for the battery and the replacement at the workshop.

Yeah, I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. It started with intermittent keyless entry and then progressed to the point where I had to hold the key right next to the door handle. Check the voltage of the key fob battery. Replacing it fixed my problems. I had different symptoms though, with the car not starting at all. Do you have a multimeter?
