CHR poor starting and high fuel consumption

I've got a 2019 Toyota CHR hybrid with about 90k km on it. Lately, the fuel consumption has gone up, and it's been a pain to start. I read online that it could be a throttle valve issue. Anyone else experienced this?

Hey! I had something similar happen with my CHR. Higher fuel consumption and the engine idle was all over the place. It turned out to be the throttle body acting up. Have you checked the accelerator pedal module? That was the culprit in my case.

The accelerator pedal module? Where is that located, and is it easy to check myself? I'm not super mechanically inclined, to be honest.

Yeah, it's connected to the accelerator pedal itself. Honestly, unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't mess with it too much. If the throttle valve is defective, you could try cleaning the throttle body, but I think it's best to take it to a workshop. I ended up paying around 200€ for the repair, and they replaced the module.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. It was the accelerator pedal module. Cost me 205€ to get it fixed. Runs like new now!
