Chrysler Voyager Aux Heater Dead, Repair Guide & Tips

My auxiliary heater stopped working completely and wont turn on anymore. The onboard computer shows an error code but I am hesitant to visit a mechanic after a previous bad repair experience. Driving a 2006 Chrysler Voyager Diesel with around 157000 km. Has anyone dealt with a similar car heater issue and can recommend what to check first or share their repair experience?

Had a similar heating system failure on a 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyager CRD. The car heater stopped working suddenly and diagnostic showed a glow plug control module malfunction. Initially checked the obvious: fuses and basic electrical connections. The real problem was more complex, the temperature sensor was failing intermittently, causing the heating control unit to shut down. The system needed a complete diagnosis because a coolant leak had damaged some of the electrical components. The repair required: Replacing faulty glow plugs, Installing new temperature sensors, Fixing the coolant leak, Updating the control module This was a serious repair job that took several days to complete properly. These heating system issues often interconnect, one failing component can trigger a chain reaction affecting multiple parts. A professional diagnosis is crucial because temporary fixes usually lead to bigger problems. The auxiliary heater problems in these models typically stem from either electrical issues or coolant system complications. Would strongly recommend getting it checked by a certified mechanic despite past experiences, as delayed repairs often result in more extensive damage.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the heater issue. My ventilation system is displaying similar symptoms, and your detailed explanation really helps understand the potential scope of the problem. Can you remember roughly how much the total repair cost came to? Also curious if you experienced any other heating-related problems since getting it fixed. Been worried about the heater core possibly being affected as well, so would appreciate knowing if everything stayed reliable after the repair. Still hoping to avoid another frustrating garage experience, but your post makes a good case for getting it properly diagnosed sooner rather than later.

After taking it to the mechanic, the auxiliary heater issue was successfully resolved. The main problem turned out to be a defective glow plug, which was causing the system shutdown. Total repair cost came to 440€, much less than initially expected given the symptoms. The ventilation system has been working flawlessly since the repair, with no temperature fluctuations or error codes. The heater core was thoroughly checked during diagnosis and showed no issues, which was a relief. The heating system maintains consistent performance even during the coldest weather now. The temperature sensor readings are all normal and the auxiliary heater kicks in exactly as it should. Getting it fixed promptly definitely prevented more extensive damage to other components. Sometimes finding a reliable mechanic pays off, even after previous disappointing experiences. Over 15 months of trouble-free operation now, which proves it was worth addressing the root cause rather than attempting temporary fixes. The repair shop did a thorough job testing all related systems to ensure no underlying issues remained.

The mechanic visit turned out better than expected. After checking the climate control system, they found a faulty glow plug was causing the auxiliary heater shutdown. Repair cost was 440€, way less than I feared after hearing about complex repairs. Been driving for over a year now with no heating issues. The temperature sensor works perfectly and the ventilation system maintains steady heat. Really glad I didn't put off the repair, as it prevented more serious damage. Found a much better repair shop this time. They did a complete check of all heating components and made sure everything was properly tested before returning the car. Sometimes you just need to find the right mechanic who knows what they're doing. The whole experience changed my mind about avoiding professional repairs. Sure, my previous garage experience wasn't great, but this repair proved that getting expert help when needed is worth it. Now I have a reliable auxiliary heater again and no more error codes to worry about.
