Cima high voltage system error

Thanks for the quick reply! No, it's my daily driver so it's not been sitting unused. And no other warning lights come on, just the high-voltage system error. Could a defective battery really cause the engine to shut off completely?

Yes, a defective or heavily discharged hybrid battery can absolutely cause the engine to shut off. The hybrid system relies on a healthy battery to function correctly, and when it fails, it can trigger a safety shutdown. The reduced power you're experiencing is also a common symptom. At this point, it's best to get it checked out by a qualified mechanic with hybrid experience. They can properly diagnose the battery and the rest of the high-voltage system.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated! I took it to a local shop and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty battery. Quoted me 290€ for the repair not as bad as I feared, thankfully. They sorted it out, and she's running smooth again.

That sounds like a pain. The 'high-voltage system error' message on a hybrid often points to battery issues. Has the car been sitting unused for extended periods? A heavily discharged battery can definitely cause those symptoms. I've seen similar things when voltage sensors act up too. Have you noticed any battery warning lights besides the error message?
