Citan brake light failure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes Citan owner experienced a brake light failure warning and an error code, with the infotainment system also displaying an error message. A possible cause suggested was an issue with the brake light switch, potentially due to the brake pedal not fully releasing. The problem was resolved by removing a floor mat that was interfering with the brake pedal travel, eliminating the error without any repair costs.

How do I check the brake pedal? Is it easy to adjust?

You can try pulling the brake pedal up with your foot to see if the light goes off. But if it's the switch, it's probably best to get it checked professionally. It's linked to the vehicle safety system, so better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out the floor mat was interfering with the brake pedal travel. Removed it, and the error is gone. No repair costs!

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Citan. Is it intermittent? Mine was the brake light switch. Check if the brake pedal is fully releasing. Sometimes a slight obstruction can keep the switch engaged.
