Citan diesel particulate filter issue

My 2019 Mercedes Citan diesel is showing some worrying signs It has 38382 km Engine power is significantly reduced, and there's smoke when I accelerate I suspect it's the diesel particulate filter Has anyone else experienced this Is filter replacement the only solution I've seen the engine light, and I'm worried about failing the vehicle inspection Could high backpressure be the cause

I had a similar problem with my Citan, though I have the petrol version Reduced power and the engine light came on Did you try forcing a regeneration It might clear the filter If the backpressure is too high, it might be too late Have you checked the exhaust for leaks

How do I force a regeneration Is that something I can do myself, or does it require special equipment If I try that and it doesn't work, is filter replacement definitely the next step I am just trying to avoid unnecessary costs

Forcing regeneration usually requires diagnostic equipment I wouldn't advise trying it without the proper tools Given your symptoms, a defective diesel particulate filter is likely, and replacement might be necessary I'd recommend getting a professional diagnosis, as running it in this condition could cause more damage I ended up going to the workshop

Thanks for the advice I took it to a workshop; diagnosis confirms the diesel particulate filter is defective Filter replacement is needed Total cost will be around 1550€ I appreciate your help
