Citan fuel gauge woes Check engine light and engine stalls

My 2021 Mercedes Citan diesel has a check engine light on and sometimes stalls at idle with 158540 km. I've checked the error memory and it points to a faulty fuel level sensor. Any ideas where to start?

I had a similar issue with my Mercedes C Class. The fuel gauge was all over the place, and the car would occasionally act like it was running out of fuel even when the tank was half full. Have you checked the fuel sensor fuse? It might be a simple fix. It's like when a light bulb goes out - sometimes it's just the bulb, not the whole electrical system. Does your fuel gauge reading seem erratic?

A fuse? Where would I find that? And yes, the fuel gauge jumps around quite a bit. It never gives a consistent reading.

Yeah, it could be just a fuse. I'm not sure about the exact location on a Citan, but it should be in one of the fuse boxes. The owner's manual should show you the locations. If it's not the fuse, it might be the sensor itself. If you are not confident with electrics, I would recommend going to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was just a faulty sensor. Replaced it for 52€ and all is well now.
