Citan immobilizer problem

My 2023 Mercedes Citan electric engine is giving me fits It's only done 80329 km but I'm having immobilizer trouble The engine either doesn't start at all or it starts for a second then dies There's an error code stored too I suspect it could be incorrect key programming causing issues with the anti-theft system and ignition control Is there anything I can do before I'm forced to go to the workshop

That sounds frustrating I had a similar issue with my old Ford Focus although it was petrol not electric The key signal wasn't being recognized properly Could be a problem with the remote start system if your Citan has one Maybe the key battery is weak or something It's worth checking before you spend any money

Thanks for the reply When you say key signal wasn't being recognized what exactly do you mean Like how did you figure that out and what did it look like

Well the car just wouldn't start It was like the anti-theft system was permanently activated I tried the spare key and had the same problem so I figured it wasn't just a dead battery in the key Ultimately I had to take it to a workshop They said something about needing to reprogram the key so it could communicate with the car's computer again Best get it checked out

Appreciate the insight It turned out you were right Took it to the workshop and the key programming was indeed the issue 45€ later the anti-theft system is happy and the Citan is running again
