Citroen C1 Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Citroen C1 diesel experienced significant engine power loss, with the check engine light on and a fault code indicating a general engine issue. The suspected cause was previous chip tuning by a former owner. The solution involved taking the car to a garage, where the ECU was flashed and the fault cleared, resolving the power loss problem.

Yeah, the check engine light is glaring at me like a disappointed parent! And 'holding back' is putting it mildly; it's like it's allergic to acceleration. The diagnostic code points to a general engine fault. What was your issue, and how did you sort it? Did your error code appear?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine. The error code was a pain to track down. To be honest, I'm no expert, so I took it to a workshop. They sorted it out quickly. I would recommend you do the same.

Thanks! I appreciate the insight. I bit the bullet and took it to a garage. Turns out my hunch was right – the previous owner's chip tuning was the culprit! They flashed the ECU and cleared the fault. Cost me 180€. Runs like a dream now!

Hey, I've got a C1 too. Sounds familiar. Did the engine warning light come on, and did it feel like the car was holding back, especially uphill? I wonder if it might be a similar problem. Is the car computer throwing any specific codes?
