Citroen C2 Stalling and Power Loss

My 2007 Citroen C2 diesel is acting up. The check engine light is on, and it stalls at idle. Feels like I'm losing power, especially uphill. It has only 44158 km! Anyone seen this? Could it be the fuel volume regulator? I suspect the high-pressure pump. It feels like a dodgy tap in the fuel line, not letting enough fuel through.

I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane years ago. Check engine light, stalling, the whole deal. They said it was a faulty fuel regulator. Before you jump to conclusions, have you checked the car's sensors? A bad sensor can mimic fuel regulator issues.

Sensors? Which ones? I've got a basic OBD2 scanner, but it only throws generic codes. Is there a particular sensor that's known to cause these symptoms? It’s like the engine's being choked.

In my Megane's case, the high-pressure pump was defective and messed up the fuel regulator. The garage said a defective high pressure pump could cause similar symptoms. Based on your description and my experience, it seems like the regulator is causing the engine stalling. I'd suggest having it checked at a workshop.

Thanks! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The high-pressure pump was defective, and it took out the fuel volume regulator with it. Cost me 1510€ to fix. I appreciate the help!
