Citroen C3 high fuel consumption rough starts
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Citroen C3 was experiencing high fuel consumption and rough starts. The initial suspicion was a defective throttle valve. However, it was suggested that the accelerator pedal module might be causing the issue by sending incorrect signals to the throttle body. After replacing the faulty accelerator pedal module, the problems were resolved, restoring normal fuel consumption and smooth starts.

Interesting. So, you reckon it's more likely the accelerator pedal module throwing things off? And how can I check if the throttle position sensor is still doing its job?

Yeah, based on your symptoms, that module is a prime suspect. The C3 is known for it. Given the high fuel consumption and poor starting, the sensor could be the culprit as well. It's worth a look, but honestly, with those symptoms, I'd get a diagnostic check at a workshop. Could save you a lot of headache.

Appreciate the insight. Seems like the accelerator pedal module was indeed the issue! Got it swapped out; a mechanic confirmed the defective module and replaced it. Total damage was 205€. Fuel consumption is back to normal, and the C3 starts up like a champ again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my C3 – rough starts and the fuel gauge taking a nosedive. Have you checked the accelerator pedal module? In my case, it was sending wonky signals to the throttle body. Is the throttle position sensor functioning correctly?
