Citroen C3 Mixture Preparation Error

I'm having a mixture preparation error with my 2000 Citroen C3, gasoline engine, at 104928 kilometers. Symptoms are reduced power, check engine light, rough running, jerking, and stalling at idle. Could a defective injector be the cause? I've checked the intake manifold for leaks, but I'm getting a rich mixture and the air-fuel ratio seems off. The spark plugs appear normal. Could the mass airflow sensor be involved?

Hey! I drive a C3 too, and your problem sounds really familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms a while back – the check engine light, the rough idling, the jerking... it was a nightmare! Did you notice if it happened more when the engine was cold, or was it pretty constant? I mean, have you already tried anything else, like checking the fuel filter?

The symptoms manifest irrespective of engine temperature, remaining consistently present. The fuel filter's condition was assessed during recent maintenance and deemed satisfactory. Did the issue you experienced also implicate the engine stalling at idle, and did you also observe any unusual fuel consumption patterns?

Okay, so temp doesn't matter. Yes, mine was stalling at idle too, which was super annoying at stop lights. I didn't really track the fuel consumption closely, but I think it was probably a bit worse than usual. Honestly, it sounds like the exact same thing. I messed around with it for a bit, but in the end, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly, so maybe that's the way to go? It's probably better than chasing ghosts.

Following your recommendation, I sought professional diagnostic services. Evaluation revealed a malfunctioning fuel injector, necessitating replacement. The total expenditure amounted to 515€. The vehicle now operates within expected parameters. Your contribution has been invaluable.
