(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Citroen C3 owner is experiencing engine issues, including an indicator light, loss of power, rough running, and stalling. They suspect the DMTL valve might be the cause and seek advice on isolating the problem. Another person shares a similar experience with a Citroen C4, where the engine control unit was replaced to resolve the issue. They suggest that the problem could also be related to misfiring and recommend checking for fault codes to aid diagnosis.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Yeah, that sounds pretty similar to what I'm going through. My Citroen is a C3, but the model year is 2017, so not that far off from yours either. Oh, and it's already done 43648 KM. Everything was ok at the last service, so I'm quite surprised about these problems. But your suggestion about the engine control unit could really help. I'll take it to the garage and see what they say. Thanks again!

No problem, I'm glad I could possibly help! Sure, it would be really good to have it checked by the car doctor, because it's always better to be on the safe side with cars. It really could be the engine control unit, but of course there are other things it could be. If there are any fault codes, they can often help. But honestly, the symptoms you describe could relate to several things. To me it sounds very much like misfiring, but that can also have many causes. For me it was definitely the engine control unit, but it could be completely different for you. Please keep me posted on the diagnosis! It would be great to know whether it's the DMTL valve or something else entirely. And take good care of your little runabout. Fingers crossed that it's nothing too expensive!

Hello, thanks again for your tips and assessment. Your tip about the misfiring is interesting, I hadn't even considered that. I will definitely pass it on to the workshop. And you're right, safety first. I'll definitely let you know the news when I get the diagnosis. Yes, it will be interesting to see what it ends up being and whether it ends up being something expensive in the long run. Haha, I'll definitely do my best to look after my little speedster. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Citroen C4, model year 2015. I'm not exactly a car professional, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. I took my car to a garage where they replaced the engine control unit. That was a lot of money, 1000 euros to be exact. They told me the problem is the engine control unit and this only happens in very rare cases. Can you tell me a bit more about yours? Is it the same type as mine? Your additional information might help me understand the situation better and help you further.
