Citroen C4 Air Conditioning Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Citroen C4 is experiencing an air conditioning issue, with an error message displayed on the speedometer. Initial diagnostics suggest a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger. However, another individual with a similar problem found that the air conditioning control unit was the actual cause, falsely indicating a sensor malfunction. It is recommended to have the air conditioning control unit checked by a professional to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! The diagnostic pointed specifically to the temperature sensor within the heat exchanger circuit. Is this consistent with your experience, or was the error message more generic in your case?

Yes, the diagnostic also indicated a faulty temperature sensor, however, after replacing it the issue remained. After consulting a professional, it was confirmed that the problem was originating from the air conditioning control unit itself and falsely reporting the sensor malfunction. My advice would be to take it to a workshop and check the AC control unit.

Thank you, that's extremely helpful! It appears I might be chasing the wrong lead. I'll schedule a visit to the workshop to have the air conditioning control unit thoroughly checked. In the end the final repair came to 980€ but now the C4 is running smoothly again!

I had a similar problem with my C4. The symptoms you describe are almost identical to what I experienced. The air conditioning control unit was the culprit. Could you provide further details of the diagnostic procedure you carried out?
