Thank you for the swift response. I concur about the clutch pedal switch’s critical role. I haven’t checked the voltage at the connector. Could you elaborate on the expected voltage readings, and if you have any specific areas of the wiring loom that are especially prone to degradation?

Alright, so, on my Astra, I was seeing inconsistent voltage readings – fluctuating between 0V and 12V when the pedal was depressed, which isn't right. As for the wiring loom, pay close attention to any points where the wiring is routed near heat sources or sharp edges. These are prime locations for chafing and damage to the insulation. Also, I would advise against any further attempts to self-remedy the issue and seek a professional vehicle workshop. It sounds like the clutch switch is faulty, and if the diagnostic confirms that, you'll need a certified mechanic to fit a new one anyway. If I remember well, the eventual repair cost for my Astra was around 85€. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I extend my gratitude for your guidance. Your insights have proven invaluable. I've scheduled an appointment with a reputable workshop for a thorough diagnostic assessment. Following the evaluation, they confirmed the defective clutch pedal switch. Repair cost should be around 95€. Thank you.

Ah, yes, a familiar tale. I had a similar issue with my 2016 Opel Astra, though the symptoms were slightly different. The clutch pedal switch is essentially a safety interlock. It prevents the engine from starting unless the clutch is depressed, and it also plays a role in disengaging cruise control and informing the ECU about gear changes. The symptoms you describe suggest the ECU isn't receiving a consistent signal from the switch. Did you check the voltage at the connector to the switch? I would have a look at the wiring loom as well. Sometimes, the cable insulation becomes brittle.
