Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the wiring. You mentioned corroded connector, do you remember which control unit it was connected to? And yes, I do get diagnostic trouble codes, but I couldn't pinpoint the exact error. Could it really be just a faulty connector?

Yeah, it was a real pain. As for which control unit, I am not sure. It was a while ago. The mechanic found it. I definitely recommend taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of time and hassle diagnosing it yourself. Good luck!

You were right! Took it to a workshop, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to a control unit. They cleaned it up, replaced a small section of the wire, and everything's running smoothly now. Total cost was 95€ Thanks for the help!

Hey, I had something similar happen with my C4, though it wasn't exactly the same. Check the wiring and plugs going to the control unit. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector causing all sorts of weirdness. Is the engine misfiring or running rough at all? Any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) showing up?
