Citroen C4 smoking DPF issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Citroen C4 diesel with 23,000 km was experiencing a warning light on the speedometer, smoking during acceleration, and a non-regenerating DPF. The issue was identified as a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor, which was interfering with the DPF regeneration process. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, restoring normal vehicle function.

It seems to be running okay, no noticeable change in performance other than the smoke. Which sensor was it on your Astra? And did it stop the DPF regeneration?

It was the exhaust back pressure sensor, I think. It definitely messed with the DPF on mine and caused similar issues. If it's not regenerating, I'd get it checked out by a workshop ASAP, it could cause more damage if left untreated.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. They replaced it, and now everything's back to normal. Cost me 245€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine. Turned out to be a faulty sensor messing with the vehicle emissions. Is it running rough or just the smoke and warning light?
