Citroen C4 Starting Problems and Battery Failure

I have a Citroen C4 and have been experiencing starting problems for several weeks. It started with the electric mirrors not folding open when opening the car, but did when turning the ignition on. Later, the car started not starting at all, with an error message 'charging battery failure - stop the car'. Despite multiple attempts to start, using jumper cables and replacing the battery, the problem persists. The garage has read the car and found no errors. The battery indicates 87% and the alternator has 14 volts, which the garagist says is good. Still, the problem persists. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I have already visited the garage twice and installed a new battery, but according to them everything is fine. I don't understand it anymore and hope someone here knows the solution!

Summary of the thread

A Citroen C4 owner is experiencing persistent starting problems, initially indicated by electric mirrors not functioning properly and an error message about battery failure. Despite replacing the battery and confirming the alternator's voltage is adequate, the issue remains unresolved. Possible causes include a faulty alternator not providing enough amperage or an electrical issue like a parasitic drain or ignition switch problem. A load test on the alternator and further electrical diagnostics are recommended to identify the root cause.

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting, but the problem persists. This could be due to a faulty alternator, despite it showing 14 volts. Sometimes, the alternator can produce the correct voltage but not enough amperage to keep the battery charged. Another possibility could be an electrical issue, such as a parasitic drain or a problem with the ignition switch. I would recommend having a mechanic perform a load test on the alternator and check for any electrical issues. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?
