Citroen C4 VANOS issue

My 2013 Citroen C4 with a gasoline engine (210677 km) has the check engine light on and fuel consumption is up. I suspect the inlet VANOS. Could a camshaft solenoid valve or power supply issue be the cause? Any similar experiences?

Hey, I had similar stuff happening with my C4. Engine light, drinking fuel like crazy! It was weird. Did you notice anything else, like rough idling or maybe a loss of power, especially when accelerating?

Indeed, there is a slight decrease in engine power during acceleration, most apparent at lower RPMs. Could you elaborate on the similarities between your experience and the issues I've described?

Yeah, mine was exactly like that. Turned out the VANOS was the culprit, or at least, something connected to it. I didn't mess with it myself. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop. Best bet might be to just get it checked out properly before you start throwing parts at it.

I consulted with a mechanic. The diagnosis confirmed the fault in the VANOS system, specifically the inlet camshaft solenoid valve. The repair cost was about 250€. The issue is now resolved. Thanks!
