Citroen C5 ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Citroen C5 is experiencing an ABS fault, with the ABS light illuminated and the system inactive. The error points to a defective lateral acceleration sensor, and live data suggests the control unit is faulty. After checking the wiring and connections, which appeared intact, the likely cause is identified as the control unit itself. The suggested solution is to replace the ABS module, as confirmed by another user who faced a similar issue with a different vehicle.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the info. Yes, I did check the wiring harness and connector; they appear to be in good condition with no obvious damage or corrosion. I even performed a continuity test on the wires from the sensor to the control unit, and everything checked out. I'm pretty sure the fault lies within the control unit itself. What was the resolution for your Volvo?

Right, if you've checked the wiring, then it probably is the control unit. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They confirmed the diagnosis and replaced the ABS module. Unfortunately, it wasn't cheap, but it resolved the problem completely. I would advise you to do the same.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. I've sourced a replacement ABS control unit, and the estimated repair cost will be around 1000€. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue permanently. I'll report back with the final outcome.

I had a similar issue with my 2014 Volvo V60. The symptoms were almost identical: ABS light, system failure, and a lateral acceleration sensor fault code. The diagnostic scan also suggested a faulty control unit, but before condemning it, I checked the wiring and connections to the sensor. Although it seemed OK, I cleaned the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and re-seated the connector. That didn't fix the problem, but it ruled out a simple connection issue. Did you inspect the wiring harness and connector to the sensor?
