Citroen C5 poor starting and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Citroen C5 with a gasoline engine was experiencing poor starting, increased fuel consumption, reduced power, uneven idling, and occasional stalling. The initial suspicion was a dirty injection nozzle, which could cause these symptoms. After consulting with a professional, the defective injection nozzle was confirmed and replaced, resolving the issues and restoring the car's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! Misfires, yes, I think I've felt a few at higher speeds. I haven’t checked the exhaust closely, but I'll take a look. If it is a dirty injector, is there anything I can try myself, or is it best left to a professional?

Given the misfires and the stalling, it's probably best to get it checked out. You could try an injector cleaner additive, but it's a bit of a gamble. A workshop can properly diagnose it, rule out other possibilities, and clean or replace the injectors if needed. Expect to pay around 500€ for the repair though. Could also be related to emissions issues.

Appreciate the advice! I'll book it in at a workshop and get them to take a look. They confirmed that the injection nozzle was defective. It was replaced for 515€, and the car is now running smoothly again.

Sounds plausible. A clogged injector could definitely cause those symptoms, especially with gasoline engines. Have you noticed any misfires or rough running at higher speeds? How’s the exhaust looking – any unusual smells or excessive smoke? Could be running lean.
