Citroen C5 Temperature Gauge Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2023 Citroen C5 diesel. It's got about 176000 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the temperature gauge acting funny, sometimes showing incorrect readings. The check engine light has also come on. On top of that, the engine seems to be taking ages to warm up. Could this be due to the cooling grille being restricted?

Greetings. The symptoms you've described – namely, the aberrant temperature readings, illuminated check engine light, and extended engine warm-up period – do suggest a potential issue with thermal management. Has the vehicle undergone any recent maintenance or repairs affecting the cooling system? Furthermore, have you visually inspected the cooling grille for any obstructions?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't had any work done on the cooling system recently, and I did have a quick look at the grille. I couldn't see anything obvious blocking it, but I didn't take it apart or anything. Is there a fuse related to the cooling grille that might be the culprit?

While a visual inspection is a prudent first step, it is important to consider that some obstructions may not be immediately apparent. Modern vehicles often employ active grille shutter systems to optimize aerodynamic performance and engine temperature regulation. In certain Citroen C5 configurations, a defective fuse can indeed compromise the functionality of this system, leading to restricted airflow and the symptoms you are experiencing. It is advisable to consult a qualified technician for a thorough diagnostic assessment. I suggest visiting a trusted workshop for a professional opinion.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I'll book it in at the workshop to have it checked out. Turns out you were right! It was a fuse for the active grille shutter, and it only cost 52€ to fix! Thanks again!
