Citroen C8 higher fuel consumption and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Citroen C8 with a diesel engine is experiencing higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective mass air flow sensor (LMM), which can lead to these symptoms. The solution involves confirming the issue with a mechanic and replacing the faulty sensor, which resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! I replaced the air filter recently, but how would I check the air intake system thoroughly, and could a dirty mass air flow meter (LMM) really cause all these issues?

Well, I'm no mechanic, but those symptoms scream mass air flow sensor problems to me. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They confirmed it was a defective mass air flow sensor. Saved me a lot of headaches, to be honest.

Appreciate the insight! That confirms my suspicion. I'll book it in with a trusted mechanic. Turns out the mass air flow sensor was indeed defective, and the repair cost me 365€. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar. I have a C8 as well. Is your air intake system clear? I had similar symptoms a while back. Check engine light, stalling, and a noticeable decline in performance. How old is your air filter, by the way?
