Citroen C8 Injection System Fault

Alright Citroen C8 friends, I'm pulling my hair out here. I have a 2014 Citroen C8 with a gasoline engine and almost 200,000 km on the clock. Lately, it's been acting up something fierce. My fuel consumption has gone through the roof, the engine feels like it's lost half its power, and it keeps stalling at idle. Plus, there's a noticeable puff of smoke when I accelerate. I suspect it's an injection system issue. Could a defective cable or plug connection really be the culprit? Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Citroen C8 with a gasoline engine and nearly 200,000 km is experiencing high fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration, suggesting an injection system fault. The issue was suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that a faulty connection in the injection system was the cause, and replacing the cable and plug resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I have a C8 too, though not sure about the exact year, but your symptoms are spot on with what I went through a while back. Did you check for any fuel leaks? I remember mine was guzzling gas like crazy. I mean, have you noticed any strong fuel smells around the car after parking?

Fuel leaks, huh? I haven't spotted any puddles or anything obvious, but I'll definitely give it a sniff test tomorrow. Where exactly should I be looking for these leaks? Near the fuel tank, or more around the engine?

Honestly, I couldn't pinpoint the leak myself. It was subtle. Just a faint smell, and the performance drop. I'd suggest just taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and save you a lot of guesswork and frustration.

You were right! Took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a faulty connection in the injection system, just like I suspected. New cable and plug, and now it's running like a dream. Cost me 95€, which is way better than a new engine! Thanks for the tip!
