Citroen C8 Overheating Error

Alright, Citroen C8 crew, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2011 C8 diesel, only 37k km on the clock, is throwing up some weirdness. The error memory is storing an error, and the engine's been overheating a bit. I suspect the bypass valve is playing up. Now, I know a bypass valve is part of the air intake system, and I'm thinking maybe there's a blockage somewhere causing the exhaust system to back up and the engine to overheat. Could even be a coolant leak, maybe? Anyone else had a similar issue? I felt a slight power loss but I'm not sure if it's just my impression.

I understand your concern. I encountered a somewhat similar issue with my old Opel Astra. The symptoms you describe, specifically the error code and overheating, could indeed indicate a faulty bypass valve or something triggering its malfunction. Have you checked for any other potential underlying issues that might be causing the bypass valve error?

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say underlying issues, what exactly do you mean? Like, what sort of things should I be checking for? I'm not a total car noob, but I'm not exactly a mechanic either. Any pointers would be massively appreciated before I take it to a workshop.

Certainly. In my case, the bypass valve issue turned out to be a consequential error resulting from another problem entirely. It would be prudent to thoroughly inspect all related components. If these checks do not help it might be advisable to seek assistance from a qualified technician to diagnose the root cause.

Thanks so much for the insight! You were spot on; took it to the shop, and it turned out to be a sensor issue causing all sorts of mayhem. They cleared it all up, and the bypass valve was actually fine. Repair cost: 0€. Problem solved!
