Citroen DS5 Overheating Air Flap Issue

Hi, I have a 2015 Citroen DS5 Hybrid. The check engine light is on, and the engine seems to be overheating. A scan says there's a fault in the active air flap system, and I think it might be the electromechanism. Has anyone else had this issue with their DS5, and how did you fix it?

Ah, a fellow DS5 driver! I have a DS5 as well and I recall facing almost the identical set of symptoms a while back. Check engine light, overheating... it all sounds painfully familiar. It also turned out to be something to do with the active air flaps. Did the diagnostic scan give you any specific error codes? That might help narrow it down further.

The diagnostic report yielded error code P1040, implicating a malfunction within the air intake flap control circuit, specifically referencing an open circuit. Could this be the same electromechanism failure you experienced, or could there be other problems?

P1040... yes, that rings a bell. If I recall correctly, that's precisely the same code I was getting. Unfortunately, in my case, it did turn out to be the electromechanism itself. I'm afraid the only real solution was to replace the unit. It's not a terribly complex job but requires some specialist tools. I would definitely recommend getting it checked out by a qualified workshop. Cost me around 590€.

Thanks for the insights! It seems our DS5s share a common problem. Given your experience and the error code matching, I'll take it to a mechanic. The expected repair cost of 590€ lines up with your experience.
