Citroen Nemo Engine Running Rich

Hi, I'm having a problem with my 2014 Citroen Nemo gasoline. It's got 105741 km on the clock. The engine seems to be running too rich. I've noticed reduced engine power, the check engine light is on, and it's running quite rough. Fuel consumption is also higher, and it jerks when accelerating. Could this be a defective injection valve/injector? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Citroen Nemo was experiencing issues with the engine running rich, leading to reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a defective injection valve or injector. After considering other potential causes like the oxygen sensor, air filter, and spark plugs, it was confirmed that a defective fuel injector was the problem. Replacing the injector resolved the issues, improving the vehicle's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Nemo. Check engine light, rough running, and terrible fuel economy. Have you checked the oxygen sensor or the air filter? Dirty air filter can mess with the fuel mixture. When was the last time you changed your spark plugs?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the oxygen sensor yet, but I did replace the air filter recently. The spark plugs are probably due for a change. Could faulty spark plugs really cause such a rich running condition and jerking?

Potentially. Bad plugs can definitely contribute to rough running and poor fuel economy, but the jerking and running rich point more towards a fuel delivery issue. Given all the symptoms, I'd strongly suggest getting the fuel injectors checked out professionally. Could save you a lot of headaches.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it was a defective fuel injector. Repair cost was 515€. Runs much better now!
