Citroen Nemo Intake Hose Leak

My 2008 Citroen Nemo, gasoline engine, has increased fuel consumption and the check engine light is on. There's a loud hissing sound from the engine when I accelerate, with 205231 km on the odometer. I suspect an air intake system leak. Could a leaking intake hose cause these issues? I've checked the air filter and throttle body, but see no damage.

Hissing on acceleration and the check engine light? Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Citroen Nemo. Check the intake hose that connects to the intake manifold. I bet it's cracked or loose. Mine was doing the exact same thing – hissing like a snake and killing my fuel economy!

Could you provide more detail regarding the location of this hose, or visual indicators beyond a simple crack? I've been inspecting vacuum hoses with limited success.

It's a pain to see. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop before messing things up. I tried patching mine, but it was a mess. They will identify where the leak is.

Thanks for your help! I brought it to a trusted workshop. They confirmed it was the intake hose, leaking as you suggested. The replacement plus labor came to around 100€. The fuel economy is already improving and the hissing is gone.
