Citroen Saxo 2003 Experiencing Power Loss, ABS Warning Lights, and Reduced Traction

Loss of engine power

Loss of traction

ABS warning light

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey, got my old trusty 2003 Citroen Saxo chugging along here with 123478 clicks on the dial. Lately, she's losing engine power, throwing ABS warning lights at me and traction's gone for a toss. My ABS/DSC system's not playing ball either, so I reckon it could be due to a dodgy supply voltage to the speed sensor (ABS). Had a bit of a dodgy go round last time at the mechanic's, so any advice from you lot? Has anyone here faced anything similar? Would be interested to hear your experiences with this issue and how you handled it at your mechanic's. Your feedback is really needed. Cheers!

Hey! I feel you. Had something similar going on with my 2006 Citroën C4 a while back. The engine power started playing up and then cheeky little ABS warning light just wouldn't go away. Turns out, you're right on the money; the issue was with the supply voltage to the ABS speed sensor indeed. My ride's sensor was integrated into the wheel hub assembly, which made diagnosing the issue a bit more complicated. The mechanic initially thought the wheel hub assembly was the culprit, but after a thorough check, he confirmed the speed sensor itself was defective. Getting the thing fixed wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but hey - it wasn't the worst either. Definitely a serious issue to look into, especially given the impact on the traction and stability control system. In all honesty, glad I sorted it out when I did; driving without ABS and DSC isn't really the safest bet. Hope that gives you a bit of an insight. All the best with your Saxo!

Hey there, quite an adventure you had with your C4, huh? I'm pretty sure my Saxo's going down a similar path. Spot on about the safety bit; driving without a functional ABS and DSC is like tempting fate. Last thing I want is my reliable old bird turning into a deathtrap. By the way, do you remember how much you shelled out to get that sensor issue fixed? Plus, has something else popped up or has it been smooth sailing since then? Need to brace myself for what I might be up against. Cheers for the input! Really appreciate it!

Hey, you're spot on with that it was a bit of an adventure indeed getting the old C4 back and running. Now about the cost, well, it did leave a bit of dent in my pocket — it was roughly about 170.00 €. That took care of the defective sensor, which was integrated into the component, hence the cost. Since then, fingers crossed, there have been no more light thugs on the dash. The ol' ride has been smooth sailing, you could say, touch wood. But I would suggest you to get your Saxo seen too sooner rather than later; better safe than sorry, right? I hope your Saxo doesn't have to go through any more of those dash light thugs after fixing this issue! Cheers, and all the best with your Saxo!

Dude, thanks a ton for the solid advice! Kinda gives me a ballpark on what to expect from the mechanic's. It was £170, you said? Alrighty. Well, beats having to throw down for a new motor, doesn't it? Hoping my Saxo doesn't throw me any curveballs post-fix as well. I'll get her in for a check-up pronto. Last thing I need is the ABS/DSC messing up at the wrong time. Yeah, it's 'better safe than sorry,' like you said. Really appreciate you sharing your experience! Fingers crossed that my ol' trusty keeps kicking after the fix. Cheers and take care!
