Civic electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
The electronic parking brake on a 2000 Honda Civic diesel is unresponsive, with an error code and warning light indicating a potential issue. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Suggestions include checking the brake sensor, switch, and fuses for connection problems. Ultimately, a mechanic confirmed the issue with the electric motor, leading to a repair.

Thanks for the quick response! I hadn't considered a faulty sensor or switch. Could you tell me where these are located in the braking system?

No problem! Honestly, it's tough to say exactly where they are on your '00 Civic without looking at a diagram. Usually the brake switch is near the pedal assembly. The sensor, if it's a wheel speed sensor related to the parking brake, would be somewhere near the wheel hub. If the warning light's on and the motor's not working, it's probably a bit beyond simple fixes, to be honest. I think you should visit a workshop.

Your assessment was spot on. I consulted a mechanic, and they confirmed the defective electric motor in the brake calliper, just as I suspected. The repair, including parts and labour, cost 505€.

That sounds like a pain. I haven't had the exact same issue on my Civic, but I did have a similar problem with the parking brake on my old car. Did you check the brake sensor and switch? Sometimes it's just a simple connection problem. Could also be a fuse. Have you looked at those?
