Civic Hybrid Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda Civic Hybrid is experiencing engine overheating and a check engine light, with a suspected defective radiator fan. The fan is not making the usual noise, and temperature control inside the car is inconsistent. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a defective speed sensor, which was causing the radiator fan to malfunction. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked by a workshop to prevent further damage.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check for obstructions, and the fan blade seems clear. As for the temperature control, it's acting a bit weird. Sometimes it blows hot air when it should be cold. Was that similar to what you experienced?

Yep, the inconsistent temperature control was definitely part of my issue too. Turns out, in my case, it was a defective speed sensor messing with the cooling system and causing the radiator fan to malfunction. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop; it could save you from further damage.

Thanks for the help! I took it to the shop, and you were right – defective speed sensor! Repair cost me about 250€. Appreciate the insight; it really helped narrow down the problem.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar overheating problem with my 2018 Volvo V60 a while back. The check engine light came on too. Have you checked if the fan blade is obstructed? Also, what's the temperature control like inside the car?
