Interesting! How exactly does the battery affect the rear window heater? I wouldn't have thought of that. And how did you figure it out? Any telltale signs?

Yeah, a weak battery can mess with the voltage and current that the rear defroster needs to work properly. In my case, the car was struggling to start sometimes, and the mechanic pointed out that the battery was on its way out. After replacing it, the rear window heating was back to normal. I suggest visiting a workshop.

Okay, that's super helpful! I'll definitely get the battery checked out ASAP. Turns out that was exactly the problem. A new battery solved everything. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed! Thanks a million for the tip!

I had something similar happen with my Civic. It turned out to be related to the battery. Have you checked yours lately? A heavily discharged or defective battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical issues.
