Civic rough running poor fuel economy
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Honda Civic with 113,000 km is experiencing rough running, poor acceleration, and high fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The issue is suspected to be related to the engine running too rich. After checking the spark plugs and air filter, the problem is identified as a defective fuel injector, which is confirmed and repaired at a local shop.

Injection? Can you give me more detail? I'm not really a mechanic.

Sure, I meant fuel injection valve, or fuel injector. They might be defective. In my case, I had to take it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. It might be worth it for you too!

Thanks. I took it to my local shop, and you were spot on - defective fuel injector! Repair cost me 515€. Glad it's finally fixed, appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my Civic. Check engine light, rough running, terrible fuel economy... It was driving me nuts. Have you looked at the air-fuel ratio? Maybe there is a problem with the injection.
