CLA Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Issue

I haven't seen any visible damage to the sensor or wiring, but it's difficult to get a clear view. Apart from the light and smoke, the car feels a little sluggish. Is there a way to confirm the sensor is faulty before auto repair?

Without diagnostic tools, definitively confirming the sensor's failure is difficult. The sluggishness does support a potential back pressure issue. It seems prudent to have a workshop perform a diagnostic test to avoid unnecessary parts replacement. That would ensure proper car maintenance. It is tough to be certain without seeing the data from the sensor.

I took it to a shop, and it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. The replacement cost 245€, and the vehicle emissions are normal again.

It's possible the pressure sensor is the culprit. Have you checked for any obvious damage to the sensor itself or the wiring? Also, are you experiencing any other symptoms besides the warning light and smoke? Could also be an emission control problem, so it could be connected to the sensor.
